Three Questions Your Purpose Prism Should Answer This Quarter
Purpose is not a tattoo. It is a filter for yes and no when the calendar gets noisy. If your purpose language cannot reject an attractive opportunity, it is decoration.
Question 1: Who is better off if I do this well for three years?
If the answer is only "me" or "my brand," dig again. A usable purpose has a beneficiary: patients, operators, students, a specific customer class, a community.
Question 2: What will I stop doing even if it pays?
Purpose without subtraction is a mood board. List two income-adjacent activities you will decline this quarter because they dilute the craft or the mission.
Question 3: What evidence would show I am living this, not performing it?
Pick metrics or artifacts:
- hours in deep mission work
- shipped public work
- people helped in a defined way
- skills built that the mission requires
Review monthly. Adjust without drama.
How DISC distorts purpose
- D: purpose becomes conquest; check who benefits
- I: purpose becomes audience; check substance
- S: purpose becomes service to everyone; check self-erasure
- C: purpose becomes perfect framework; check contact with reality
A ninety-minute quarterly ritual
Write the three answers on one page. Share with one trusted human. Put one stop-doing on the calendar as a decline you will practice. Purpose that never inconveniences you is probably marketing copy.
Seekers: if you use SELF OS or a Purpose Prism style tool, run these three questions against this quarter's actual calendar. Alignment is not a feeling in a workshop. It is what survived contact with your week.
